ENROLLED AGENTS - "The Only Professional Tax Practitioners..."Enrolled agents are said to be "the only professional tax practitioners who specialize in tax". Enrolled agents are tax experts who can assist you with tax planning, tax preparation and representation before the IRS. Enrolled Agents are the only representatives who receive that right from the U.S. government, rather than from individual states.EA HISTORY - Over 100 Years Of enrollment.Enrolled agents (EA's) have been around for over 100 years. Enrollment was established in 1884 by the U.S. government to regulate agent who could represent citizens with claims for Civil War losses.EA ENROLLMENT - Professionals Ready To Serve. With constant tax changes, it seems to be more difficult than ever to be well informed on the new regulations. That is where Enrolled Agents can help. How ever a tax preparer must qualify to become enrolled. There are only two way a person earns the EA designation:1) The candidate must pass a four part, two day exam held by the IRS. This difficult exam covers all areas of taxation, procedures and ethics. As an average only one-third of the individuals pass the exam. In addition to passing the exam, all applicants then go through a meticulous background investigation. 2) A person who has been employed by the IRS for a minimum of five years, qualifies for enrollment if they have been regularly applying IRS Code and regulations. In order to continue to be enrolled, all agents are required to continue their tax education. Because it is so difficult to become enrolled, and maintain enrollment, there are fewer than 34,000 Enrolled Agent in the U.S. For more information visit the California Society of Enrolled Agents at www.csea.org |
